What AI chat models are available?

Duck.ai currently supports Anthropic’s Claude 4.5 Haiku, Meta’s Llama 4 Scout, Mistral AI’s Mistral Small 3 24B, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini. In addition to all of the models available in the free version of Duck.ai, DuckDuckGo subscribers also get access to the additional, advanced AI models. Subscribers on the Plus plan get access to GPT-4o, GPT-5.2, Claude Sonnet 4.5, and Llama 4 Maverick. In addition to the Plus plan models, subscribers on the Pro plan also get Claude Opus 4.6, higher reasoning effort than Plus, and 2x higher usage limits than Plus. You can change your default chat model at any time by clicking on the current chat model name – in the left sidebar.

Does DuckDuckGo moderate chat responses in any way?

No, we do not filter or modify the responses received from the chat model in any way. As such, responses may contain inaccurate or offensive information. Anthropic, Meta, Mistral, and OpenAI each have their own moderation policies, and you may see those applied when using their models, respectively.

How do I access subscriber-only chat models?

You can access subscriber-only Duck.ai models in any browser, including the DuckDuckGo browser for iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows.

  1. Ensure that the DuckDuckGo browser is running the latest version
  2. Open the three-line menu > Settings
  3. Find DuckDuckGo Subscription and select I Have a Subscription, then follow the prompts

  1. In your browser, visit Duck.ai
  2. Go to Duck.ai Settings, select I Have a Subscription, then follow the prompts

How do I change chat models?

You can change your chat model by clicking on the current chat model name – in the left sidebar, or by clicking on the reverse-direction arrows icon at the bottom of the current model’s last reply.
